The National Resistance Front (NRF) said in a statement that a video alleging the group had planned an attack on the United Nations’ representative office is part of the Taliban’s strategy to lay the groundwork for attacks on foreign institutions and diplomatic missions.
Abdullah Khunjani, spokesperson for the National Resistance Front, published the group’s statement on his X account on Wednesday night, October 7.
According to the statement, the National Resistance Front described the Taliban’s move as part of an alleged “conspiratorial strategy” aimed at discrediting the group and conducting an information-propaganda campaign.
The statement said the NRF’s ethical principles and values are based on an absolute refusal to harm civilians and civilian institutions, both domestic and foreign.
The National Resistance Front warned: “The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan urges all political missions and international organizations to strengthen their security measures, because the Taliban, by creating such an atmosphere, are seeking to carry out terrorist attacks under unknown identities and attribute them to others.”
The statement comes after the Taliban recently released a video showing several people identified as members of the National Resistance Front allegedly confessing to planning an attack on the office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
