The Taliban in Kandahar have ordered government departments under their control to ban the use of photos and videos on computers, mobile phones, and similar devices.
The Hasht-e Subh Daily obtained a letter on Wednesday, October 7, which shows that the Taliban issued the order to enforce the restrictions imposed under the Law for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
The letter calls on government departments under Taliban control to comply with the order and to pay serious attention to its implementation during opening ceremonies, meetings and gatherings.
The Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has also asked the relevant departments to cooperate with the ministry in implementing the order.
The order was issued under Article 22 of the Taliban’s Law for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
Under this article, the Taliban have imposed restrictions on taking and viewing photos and videos on computers, mobile phones, and similar devices.
These restrictions are currently being enforced in a number of provinces. The Taliban have also previously detained journalists in several provinces on charges of taking photographs.
