The Sindh High Court has ordered a medical university in the province to allow Afghan students to return to their classrooms and university dormitories.
The court issued the order on Tuesday, September 29, following a petition filed by Afghan students, directing the university to restore their access and ensure that their studies are not disrupted until the next court hearing.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council had previously directed universities to prepare Afghan students currently enrolled in their programs for their return to Afghanistan and barred the admission of new Afghan students for the current academic year.
However, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has said Afghan students with valid visas who are enrolled in recognized educational programs may complete their studies.
The development comes as Pakistan continues its repatriation of Afghan citizens.
Courts in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also granted temporary relief to Afghan students in similar cases.
