Kabul – Pakistani media have reported that six Islamic State of Khurasan Province (ISKP) fighters were killed in an operation by Pakistani Counter-Terrorism forces in Balochistan province on the border with Afghanistan.
“ISKP fighters were killed in a night raid in the eastern bypass of Quetta by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD),” Pakistani media reported today (Monday, January 10th).
A spokesman for the department told the media that non-explosive ordnance and equipment were also recovered from the militants during the operation.
“A major terrorist plot has been foiled in Balochistan province by killing the militants,” the agency said.
Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said at an extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers that “ISKP is threatening Pakistan from Afghanistan,” to which there was a widespread reaction.
Meanwhile, the former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, in response to Imran Khan’s remarks, had said that ISKP was coming to Afghanistan from Pakistan, not the other way around.
