Local Taliban authorities in Ghazni province reported a tragic traffic accident that claimed the lives of six people and left 30 others injured. The incident occurred in the Qarabagh district, highlighting ongoing road safety challenges in the region. Hamidullah Nisar, the Taliban’s head of information and culture in Ghazni, provided details of the collision on Monday, July 28, 2025.
According to Nisar, the accident involved a Type 580 passenger bus colliding with a freight vehicle. The crash underscores the persistent issue of road accidents in Afghanistan, with authorities pointing to multiple contributing factors. Driver negligence, poor road conditions, and failure to adhere to traffic regulations were cited as the primary causes of such incidents.
The Emergency Hospital in Kabul has previously noted a significant rise in traffic accidents, reporting a fivefold increase since the Taliban’s takeover. This alarming trend emphasizes the urgent need for improved road infrastructure and stricter enforcement of traffic rules to prevent further loss of life and injuries in Afghanistan.
