Sources in Kandahar say Taliban fighters in Spin Boldak district of the province injured a child by striking him in the eye with a stone.
The sources told The Hasht-e Subh Daily on Monday, August 24, that the incident occurred on Sunday evening.
According to the information, Taliban fighters stationed at the Boldak Gate struck the child in the eye with a stone.
The sources said a video of the incident shows blood flowing from the injured eye of the boy.
They added that the child was first taken to the Spin Boldak hospital and later transferred to Kandahar city for treatment.
The sources said the video contains distressing images, but only a few photographs from the incident have been published.
According to the information, in the first photograph taken of the child before the incident, his eye appears to be unharmed, while in a photograph taken after he was injured, blood can be seen coming from his eye.
Meanwhile, residents of Spin Boldak said Taliban fighters in the area treat poor people harshly. They added that a few days ago, the leg of an elderly man was also broken.
This comes as numerous reports of beatings and mistreatment of civilians by Taliban fighters have emerged from across Afghanistan.
