Sources say the Taliban have decided that women will no longer be allowed to enter government offices unless they wear a burqa.
Sources told Hasht-e Subh Daily on Wednesday, November 5, that in recent days, women have been prevented from entering several government institutions, including the Civil Registration Authority, the Ministry of Education, and the Prisons Administration.
Sources in Herat Province said the Taliban blocked at least 50 women from entering the provincial Directorate of Education.
This new directive by the Taliban has reportedly been implemented across multiple provinces.
According to the sources, the move aims to force women to wear the burqa.
This comes as the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), in its latest report, stated that women without a male guardian have been denied medical treatment in hospitals in Kunar, Kandahar, and Khost provinces.
The Taliban have also warned doctors not to treat female patients who are not wearing a hijab.
The Taliban’s growing restrictions on women’s lives continue unabated.
