Kabul – Although the Taliban forces are collecting tithe and zakat from the people of Rostaq district in Takhar province, they are also asking the locals for compulsory food, Rostaq residents say.
“We are now giving tithe and zakat to the Taliban forces,” said Rostaq residents to Hasht-e Subh today, Saturday, December 11.
In addition, Taliban forces have set food shifts for the people, and everyone is required to provide three meals a day for Taliban forces, according to locals.
“Taliban authorities are preparing food for their staff at the Rostaq center, however, in the villages of the district, people are helping the Taliban as much as they can, said Mawlawi Zabihullah Abu Dhar, the Taliban district governor for Rostaq Takhar.
On the other hand, local sources say that the Taliban forces have made a “prayer attendance sheet” for the people in a number of mosques, so a fine of 200 afghanis is imposed on absentees for Fajer and Isha prayers.
It is worth mentioning that along with the spread of poverty and unemployment in the country, the collection of tithe and zakat and the Taliban’s demand for three meals a day in the villages has added to the concerns of some residents.
In the meantime, Taliban forces are demanding compulsory food from the people while they now have the country’s sources of income.
Although the Taliban leadership has finalized a new method of government payment, they have not yet paid their troops.
