Taliban forces say they have arrested 18 people in Herat on charges of immorality.
Mahmood Shah Rasuli, the spokesman for the provincial police command, said the detainees had been taken to custody by forces in the ninth Police Department (PD).
He added that 18 people, including nine women, had been arrested for prostitution in Herat’s PD-9.
According to Rasouli, the detainees included a woman who encouraged other women to commit prostitution.
The police spokesman in Herat clarified that the case of the detainees had been sent to the prosecutor’s office.
However, since the Taliban came to power, there have been reports of arbitrary trials across Afghanistan.
