Local sources in Kandahar say the Taliban have established a commission to review the appearance, mobile phones, and employment records of government employees in the province.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, September 7, that the commission, headed by Mullah Shirn Akhund, the Taliban governor of Kandahar, has visited several government offices in the province.
According to the sources, the beards, hair and turbans of employees are being assessed during these inspections, and in some cases, employees’ turbans are removed so that their hair can be examined.
The sources say the mobile phones of employees are also being checked, and desks, cabinets and different sections of government offices are searched to find smartphones.
The employment records and backgrounds of employees are also being examined. Some employees have been questioned about their presence in the Taliban ranks and their involvement in the war against the former republican government, while some individuals have also been asked to provide their “jihad form.”
According to the sources, officials from the Directorate of “Decrees and Orders” and the Taliban’s Directorate for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice are members of the commission.
The purpose of the commission has been described as examining how the decrees and orders of the Taliban Supreme Leader are being implemented and dealing with employees who disobey these directives.
