Local sources report that individuals affiliated with Mawlawi Jalal, the Taliban commander in Samangan province fatally stabbed a man in Balkh Province. Hasht-e Subh Daily confirms that the victim, named Meftah, was killed on Sunday, April 14, in the vicinity of the first district of Mazar-e Sharif City. Meftah, who ran a shop in Aybak, the capital of Samangan Province, had gone to Balkh to “purchase goods.”
Meanwhile, the Taliban security command in Balkh, in a press release, stated that this man had entered a residential house with the intention of “adultery” and was killed in a confrontation with their fighters. The press release also mentions that one Taliban fighter was injured in this confrontation.
However, local Taliban sources accuse them of “concealment” and claim that individuals affiliated with Mawlawi Jalal killed this man due to “personal enmity.”
It’s worth noting that the Taliban have consistently faced accusations of widespread human rights violations since their resurgence in this region, occasionally resorting to arbitrary executions. In a similar incident, this group wounded a person suspected of “gambling” in Samangan province with gunfire on December 21, 2023.
