Local sources say hundreds of armed Taliban forces have been deployed in areas bordering Ghazni with Maidan Wardak and Bamyan provinces, stopping and interrogating local residents.
Sources told Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, August 9, that Taliban forces have had a heavy presence in parts of Ghazni’s Nawur district, Maidan Wardak’s Behsud district, and Bamyan’s Waras district in recent days.
According to the sources, Taliban forces occasionally stop local residents and subject them to questioning.
The sources added that residents have grown frustrated with the conduct and harassment by Taliban forces.
The reason for the Taliban’s increased presence in these areas remains unclear.
However, sources say the Taliban are concerned about an increase in attacks by opposition fronts and fear the emergence of resistance in the central regions.
