Sources in Takhar province say Taliban fighters shot and killed a former security officer in the province in front of his mother and wife.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Monday, September 28, that the former security officer was identified as Ahmad Farid Kohistani, a resident of Warsaj district.
According to the sources, he had served as a police officer at the Fifth Security District in Taloqan, the capital of Takhar, under the previous government.
The sources added that the incident occurred on Sunday, September 27, in Warsaj district.
The motive and reason for the killing remain unclear.
This comes as reports of killings and mistreatment of former security forces and government employees have emerged since the Taliban returned to power.
