Local sources in Badakhshan province report that a former soldier was killed after being tortured by the Taliban in Nasi district.
Sources told Hast-e Subh daily on Monday, September 22, that the victim, identified as Abdul Rashid, was a resident of Ghomi Shakhdara village in Nasi district.
According to the sources, Abdul Rashid had previously served in Afghanistan’s former National Directorate of Security (NDS). After the Taliban takeover, he fled to Iran but was forcibly deported a few months ago.
Upon his return, he initially stayed in Kunduz province before moving back to his hometown.
Abdul Rashid, who held a bachelor’s degree, had turned to labor work in a gold mine due to uncertainty about his future.
The sources added that he had repeatedly approached Juma Fateh, the Taliban district governor in Nasi, seeking a so-called “amnesty card,” but his requests were consistently rejected.
On Sunday night, Taliban members loyal to Juma Fateh arrested, tortured, and ultimately killed him.
Over the past four years, the Taliban have repeatedly arrested, tortured, and executed former Afghan security personnel.
