Local sources in Herat report that the Taliban have detained and subjected an official of a religious school, along with his sons, to imprisonment and torture.

Sources informed Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, November 12, that Taliban fighters intended to apprehend the son of the official of a religious school in the Gozara district of this province, who is known to be a photographer.

According to the sources, the Taliban fighters faced resistance from the family of this individual, and the school official engaged in a physical confrontation with these militants along with his other sons.

Additional reports indicate that more Taliban fighters arrived at the scene, transferring the school official and his sons to the district’s monitoring center in Gozara.

According to the sources, the Taliban have subjected these individuals to torture, utilizing electric shocks.

As of now, the Taliban in Herat have not commented on this matter.

The detention and torture of both military and non-military individuals by the Taliban are not unprecedented occurrences.
