The Afghan national football team departed from Kabul for Qatar to participate in the second round of preliminary matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Under the management of the Taliban, the Afghanistan Football Federation stated that the national team set off for Qatar on Monday, November 13.
Afghanistan is scheduled to compete against the national teams of Qatar, India, and Kuwait in these upcoming competitions.
The first encounter for Afghanistan is set to take place this Thursday night at 8:45 Kabul time against the Qatar national team.
This development comes in the wake of Ashley Michael Westwood’s appointment as the new head coach of the Afghan national football team with a one-year contract last Thursday.
During his inauguration ceremony, he expressed his motivation for victory, emphasizing the upcoming matches against the national teams of Qatar and Kuwait as significant challenges.
