The Taliban’s police command in Balkh Province has announced that a traffic accident on the highway between the Hairatan border crossing and the city of Mazar-e-Sharif left one person dead and two others injured.
Local Taliban officials say the incident occurred on Monday, December 8, when a vehicle overturned.
Taliban traffic authorities in Balkh have cited driver negligence as the preliminary cause of the accident.
In recent years, traffic incidents on Afghanistan’s highways have increased due to the Taliban’s ineffective oversight and the lack of standard road infrastructure.
