The Taliban have reported that two brothers in Miramor district of Daikundi province died after drowning in water.
The Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture in Daikundi said on Sunday, May 31, that the incident occurred the previous day in the “Pay-Bagh” area of Miramor district.
According to the report, the two brothers were 17 and 25 years old and had entered the river for recreation and fishing.
Local Taliban officials said that investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
This comes as, during the Eid holidays, three people also drowned in the Sayad River in Kapisa province, and three others drowned while swimming in a dam in Malistan district of Ghazni province.
Every year, with the arrival of the hot season, drowning incidents increase in various parts of the country.
