The United States has warned its citizens about the situation in Middle Eastern countries and urged them to exercise caution when traveling to the region.
Al Jazeera reported early Sunday, September 20, that the warning was issued following recent clashes between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
According to the report, the United States warned that fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis could escalate rapidly.
The U.S. has urged its citizens in Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Jordan to exercise “increased vigilance.”
In separate security alerts, U.S. diplomatic missions in the nine countries said that the security environment in the Middle East poses a risk of “flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions as regional tensions increase.”
They also warned that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could target U.S. interests abroad or locations associated with Americans.
A few days earlier, the United States had also urged its citizens not to travel to Saudi Arabia.
