The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) says it is working with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) to expand businesses’ access to financial resources in Afghanistan.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 23, UNDP said successful businesses can play an important role in promoting prosperity, stability, and peace.
The organization added that supporting businesses and the people’s economy remains one of the key areas of its work in Afghanistan.
Strengthening the private sector, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating economic opportunities are considered among the country’s major needs.
The partnership comes as Afghanistan continues to face an economic crisis, high unemployment, and widespread poverty, with many citizens struggling to meet their basic needs.
