WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that more than 27,000 people in northeastern Afghanistan have received outpatient treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Kunduz over the past six months.

The organization reported on Tuesday, October 20, that since April 2026, another 2,114 patients, including 1,268 women, have been admitted to and treated at the hospital.

The hospital provides free specialized medical services to patients with the support of the WHO and funding from the European Union (EU).

The WHO added that the hospital has 50 beds and provides services to patients with viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, and other serious infectious diseases from Kunduz and neighbouring provinces.

The organization also expressed its gratitude to the EU for its financial support and cooperation in providing free medical services to patients with infectious diseases in Afghanistan.
