Several Afghan civil society associations in the United Kingdom celebrated Uzbek Language National Day at a ceremony in London.

The organisers told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Tuesday, October 20, that the ceremony was held in collaboration with the Association of Turks of Afghanistan in the UK, the Navai Association, the Babur Association and several civil society associations.

According to the organisers, academics, cultural figures and dozens of families attended the event and spoke about the importance of the Uzbek language, its status and the need to pass it on to future generations.

During the ceremony, a selection of traditional Uzbek dishes and foods was also displayed.

The organisers said the event aimed to preserve the Uzbek language, introduce the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people, and encourage the younger generation to maintain their mother tongue.
