Tajudeen Oyewale, UNICEF’s representative in Afghanistan, has shared the organization’s experience with anticipatory action in Afghanistan at the Global Impact Evaluation Forum.
Oyewale said on Tuesday, September 22, that taking action before a crisis occurs, based on evidence, predetermined financing, and strengthened local capacities, can help increase resilience to crises.
He added that the forum was organized by UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Afghanistan has faced various humanitarian crises and natural disasters in recent years. Droughts, floods, and earthquakes are among the events that have caused damage and affected families in different parts of the country.
