US Senator Bernie Sanders has urged Democrats in the next Congress to cut funding for the US war against Iran.
Sanders said on Friday, November 6, that passing a resolution alone would not be enough to end the war and that its funding must also be halted.
He described the war with Iran as illegal and unconstitutional under US law.
Sanders stressed that the war has so far killed 19 US service members and thousands of civilians, while costing hundreds of billions of dollars.
The senator had previously called for an end to funding for the war with Iran.
Meanwhile, Thomas Massie, a member of the US House of Representatives, called for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to resign following the Republicans’ defeat in the midterm elections.
Hegseth was among the early supporters of launching the war against Iran.
US President Donald Trump has also said that the war with Iran played a significant role in the Republicans’ defeat in the midterm elections.
