The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that 55 commercial vessels have been diverted as part of the ongoing US naval blockade of Iran.
CENTCOM said in a post on X early Wednesday, August 12, that the vessels had been forced to change course by August 11.
The US military also said that, in addition to diverting the commercial vessels, it had disabled three ships and inspected two others.
In recent weeks, CENTCOM has released reports of commercial vessels being forcibly diverted in the region’s waters.
The US naval blockade of Iran was imposed in response to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian armed forces.
