Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy, said that he held extensive talks with the Iranian delegation through mediators on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The U.S. special envoy wrote on X early Wednesday, September 23, that mediators had been moving between the two sides throughout the day.
He said the mediators had concluded another round of discussions between Iran and the United States and expressed hope that the talks would prove constructive and promising as the mediators continued their efforts.
This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump previously said that the two sides had held direct negotiations.
However, although Witkoff did not specify which countries or organizations had mediated the talks, Pakistan and Qatar have previously been among the most prominent mediators between Tehran and Washington.
