TASS

Protests by young people have begun in more than 30 cities across Germany against the possible reinstatement of compulsory military service and rising living costs.

The TASS news agency reported on Saturday, October 31, that protesters are calling for the government to abandon its plan to reinstate compulsory military service.

They are also urging the government to increase investment in education and healthcare, take measures to protect the climate, and reduce the cost of living.

According to the report, around 1,500 police officers have been deployed in Berlin to provide security during the demonstrations.

Despite organisers’ assurances that the protests would remain peaceful, German security forces have also raised the possibility of unrest and clashes.
