Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine will step up attacks on Russian oil refineries in response to Moscow’s new policy of airstrikes.
Reuters reported on Saturday night, October 3, that Zelensky made the remarks in an exclusive interview with the news agency.
According to the report, Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence services had obtained documents showing that Russian President Vladimir Putin had issued a “new doctrine” for military attacks against a much wider range of civilian targets ahead of winter.
Zelensky said the main reason behind the policy shift was Putin’s desire to demonstrate strength at a time when Russian forces were losing ground in a key area of the frontline and suffering heavier casualties.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement urging foreign nationals to leave Kyiv that Moscow would continue its systematic attacks on designated targets.
