Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, said in his address to the United Nations General Assembly that Israel’s violence in Gaza has caused an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
Al Jazeera reported on Thursday, September 24, that Abbas delivered the speech to the UN General Assembly in a pre-recorded address.
He said Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing killings, destruction, hunger, and attempts by Israeli forces to displace them.
Abbas described Israel’s military operation in Gaza as a “genocidal war” and said these actions have targeted the lives of the people and the future of generations of Palestinians.
The President of the Palestinian Authority added that the violence in Gaza has affected all the necessities of life and that its consequences will also affect future generations.
