The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan has announced efforts to protect homes, agricultural land, and people’s livelihoods in Baghlan Province from natural disasters, marking the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

On Tuesday, October 13, the organization wrote on its X account that, following the devastating floods in Baghlan in 2024, it is building flood protection infrastructure through the PAIDAAR project.

According to the report, the project is being implemented with financial support from the Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (STFA) and aims to reduce flood risks and protect homes, agricultural land and people’s livelihoods.

Marking the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the organization emphasized that disaster preparedness and the construction of protective infrastructure play an important role in strengthening community resilience and reducing the damage caused by future natural disasters.
