Indian police have reported the arrest of six foreign nationals, including an Afghan citizen, in Mumbai for allegedly using fake Indian passports.
The Times of India reported on Tuesday, September 15, that the foreign nationals were from Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
According to the report, Hamdullah Haji Lahore, a 37-year-old Afghan citizen, was arrested four days ago on charges of illegally entering India and obtaining a fake Indian passport.
He reportedly entered India in 2020 on a medical visa and later obtained a fake passport.
He is also accused of traveling to Kabul two years ago using the fake Indian passport.
Before the Taliban returned to power, India was one of the main destinations for Afghan citizens seeking medical treatment, with hundreds traveling to the country each year for healthcare.
