An Afghan woman has been deported from the United States over allegations of cooperating with and having links to terrorism.
CNN reported on Friday, September 11, that the Afghan woman, identified as Nazirа Hajizadeh, was ordered to be deported from the US in a confidential court proceeding.
According to the report, Hajizadeh was accused of assisting her son and son-in-law in planning a foiled terrorist plot in 2024. She was deported from the US after accepting the designation of a “foreign terrorist.”
Newly released documents show that she reached an agreement with the US Department of Justice last month regarding her deportation and agreed to the terms.
According to court documents, the Afghan woman, who lived in Dallas before her deportation, could neither speak English nor read or write.
The report says her son is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for providing firearms in support of a terrorist organization. He had previously pleaded guilty to the charge.
Her son-in-law, who court documents describe as the main planner of an ISIS-aligned terrorist plot, also reached an agreement with prosecutors during the proceedings. However, he has not yet been sentenced.
The US government has also alleged that the woman indoctrinated her family members with ISIS ideology.
