The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says that, with support from its partners, it is providing vaccines, refrigerators and “cold chain equipment” to hospitals across Afghanistan.
The organisation wrote on its X page on Tuesday, September 29, that health workers at a clinic in Herat were preparing to vaccinate children.
UNICEF added that the equipment is being provided to help ensure the proper storage and transportation of vaccines at health facilities in Afghanistan.
The organisation said that health workers play a role in protecting children from preventable diseases by providing vaccination services.
UNICEF also stressed the importance of access to vaccines and appropriate equipment to continue vaccination services and protect children against preventable diseases.
