FIFA has announced that the Afghan women’s national football team in exile has been relocated to Morocco to take part in the international tournament “FIFA Unites: Women’s Series 2025.”

According to The New Arab, which reported early Thursday, October 23, the tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Dubai starting Thursday. However, due to visa issuance problems for exiled Afghan players, the venue and dates were changed, and the matches will now begin on Sunday.

The Afghan women’s team in exile will compete against the national teams of Chad, Tunisia, and Libya in this tournament.

The players, who fled Afghanistan and are now residing in various countries, have named their team “Afghan Women United.”

FIFA said in a statement that this tournament is part of its “Comprehensive Action Strategy for Afghan Women’s Football,” which includes providing support and preparation for Afghan players ahead of competitions.

Currently, Tunisia ranks 96th in the FIFA global standings, while Chad and Libya are yet to be listed in the rankings.
