The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed that the execution of civilians in Herat province was carried out in coordination with the Taliban, particularly the group’s governor.
The Front said in a statement on Friday, April 10, that Afghanistan under Taliban rule has turned into a haven for domestic and foreign terrorists who target ethnic and religious minorities, particularly Shiites.
The Front added that people from different ethnic groups, religious communities, and vulnerable segments of society do not enjoy any form of physical or psychological security under the Taliban emirate.
The Front said: “The targeted and mass killings of Hazaras and Shia communities over many years, the mistreatment and increasing pressure on Ismaili Shias, and the brutal suppression of people in specific areas continue.”
AFF has stated that the attacks and mass killings of Shia civilians in this province would not be possible without the facilitation of the Taliban.
The Front noted: “The local administration of Herat under Taliban control is headed by a person who has written a book on the excommunication of Shia sects. In recent months, this group, in alignment with international takfiri terrorist networks, has engaged in the arrest, humiliation, and torture of Shia religious scholars and influential figures in Herat.”
It is worth noting that motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire on civilians at a recreational site on Friday. The Taliban have said that seven people were killed and 13 others were injured.
Meanwhile, sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the number of casualties is significantly higher than what the Taliban has claimed.
