The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has stated that measles is a preventable disease and that its spread can only be stopped if all children are vaccinated.
UNICEF wrote on its X page on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, that with the support of its partners, children across Afghanistan have received the measles vaccine.
UNICEF emphasized that behind every dose of vaccine stands a protected child and a healthier community.
UNICEF had previously also stressed that vaccination programs play a key role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases in Afghanistan and must continue on a wide scale.
International organizations have consistently underscored the importance of universal access to vaccines and strengthening healthcare services for children in different parts of Afghanistan.
