In a survey, the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief (ACBAR) reports the complaints of people and organizations regarding the intervention of local Taliban members in the aid distribution process.
The results of this survey published Tuesday indicate that almost all organizations have deep concern over the issue, saying that the local Taliban members and tribal elders intervene in the evaluation process and distribute aid to their relatives.
“Nearly, all organizations shared a critical concern of interference of the external parties including the local authorities and community leaders in aid delivery in some areas as a big challenge to meet their commitment to accountability,” the survey said.
According to sources in some provinces, the intervention of local Taliban members in the process of providing aid is so big that a number of organizations have turned to identify the needy through unconventional and hidden ways.
During the last year, international aid organizations and needy people have repeatedly complained about the Taliban’s interference in the aid delivery process.
