The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced an increase in dengue fever cases in eastern Afghanistan.

On Thursday, November 5, the organization urged people to protect themselves against mosquito bites and seek medical attention at health centres as soon as possible if they develop symptoms.

According to the WHO, a high fever of up to 40 degrees Celsius, headaches, and pain behind the eyes are among the most common symptoms of dengue fever.

Swollen lymph nodes, nausea, vomiting, and pain in the joints, bones, and muscles are also among the symptoms of the disease.
