Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that extensive efforts are under way by some elements within the US administration and actors aligned with Israel to manipulate energy markets and influence prices.
Araghchi wrote on X on Saturday, August 29, that Iranian intelligence indicates major efforts are being made to “play the energy markets.”
He alleged that some elements within the US administration are using “gullible” media outlets to influence energy prices, pursue personal interests, and keep the US president trapped in a losing war.
The Iranian foreign minister also said that actors aligned with Israel are supporting and promoting the continuation of the war by providing overly optimistic assessments.
Araghchi added that, ultimately, it is American consumers who are paying the real cost of this situation.
