The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a train carrying Pakistani military personnel in the city of Quetta, saying that dozens of Pakistani soldiers were killed and injured.
In a statement issued on Sunday, May 24, the BLA said the attack took place near a military base in Quetta and along the route leading to the railway station.
The group claimed that 82 Pakistani military personnel were killed and another 121 were injured in the incident.
According to the statement, the casualties included officers, non-commissioned personnel, and ordinary soldiers from different military units in Pakistan.
The statement further claimed that the attack was carried out by the group’s “Majeed Brigade” in coordination with its intelligence wing, and that the target was a special train transporting Pakistani military forces.
In recent years, various parts of Balochistan have witnessed an increase in attacks by armed groups opposed to the Pakistani government.
The Pakistani government considers these groups “terrorist organizations” and accuses them of targeting the country’s security forces and state infrastructure.
