Bismillah Mohammadi to be Introduced as the Interior Minister
8 Subh; Kabul: A source in the Afghan government says that Bismillah Mohammadi will be officially introduced as the Minister of Interior in the coming days.
According to information provided to 8 Subh by this source, the plan was for Bismillah Mohammedi to be introduced as Interior Minister before Eid al-fitr, but for some reason it was delayed.
Bismillah Mohammadi is from Panjshir province and a prominent jihadi commander who served in the Interior and Defense Ministries under Hamid Karzai.
The source told 8 Subh that Bismillah Mohammedi will be introduced in this position soon.
Along with Bismillah Mohammedi, Abdul Qahar Abed, former head of the office of High Council For National Reconciliation and an executive director, has also been one of the options to lead the Interior Ministry.
According to government sources, the issue of introducing the minister of interior, which according to the political agreement, should be done by Abdullah Abdullah, chairperson of the High Council For National Reconciliation has caused controversy in the president palace.
In particular, it is said that Amrullah Saleh, the first vice president, had considered the appointment of the Minister of Interior and had nominated a special person for this position.
Currently, the ministry of interior is headed by Hayatullah Hayat, who took over following the dismissal of Abdullah Abdullah nominated minister, Mohammad Massoud Andarabi. Andarabi was dismissed on March 19 last year.
Abdullah Abdullah had stated his opposition to the appointment of Hayatullah Hayat as Interior Minister and the dismissal of Massoud Andarabi.
