Britain and France have pledged to increase military support for Kyiv and accelerate the delivery of air-defense missiles on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
Reuters reported on Tuesday, August 25, that Andy Burnham, the British prime minister, called for strengthening Ukraine’s defensive capabilities against Russian air attacks at the “Coalition of the Willing” meeting in Kyiv, during his first foreign trip since taking office.
According to the report, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kyiv wants peace but will not surrender.
Burnham also stressed that Britain would continue supporting Ukraine despite Russia’s “shocking threats.”
The commitments come as Ukraine’s allies have stepped up efforts to strengthen the country’s defensive capabilities and counter Russian attacks.
