Russian officials have claimed that Ukraine attacked various parts of Russia, including the capital Moscow, with more than 1,000 drones.
CBS News reported early Monday, September 21, that Sergei Sobyanin, Moscow’s mayor, described the alleged Ukrainian attack as the largest attack on the Russian capital in history.
According to the report, the attack took place overnight Sunday, coinciding with the end of the third day of Russia’s parliamentary elections.
The Moscow mayor claimed that 450 drones heading toward the Russian capital had been destroyed, but that an oil refinery and a residential building were damaged.
Andrei Vorobyov, another regional official, claimed that the attack across the Moscow region killed two people and injured 20 others.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media that Kyiv used a range of missiles and drones in the attack to target Russian oil and logistics facilities.
