The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported the forced rerouting of 110 commercial vessels as part of a U.S. naval blockade of Iran in regional waters.
CENTCOM said on Tuesday night, September 21, on X that U.S. naval vessels are operating in regional waters to enforce the naval blockade of Iran.
The U.S. military said American warships are preventing the movement of goods into and out of Iranian ports and coastal areas.
According to CENTCOM, the U.S. military has rerouted 110 commercial vessels in regional waters to ensure compliance with the naval blockade.
The development comes as tensions and conflict between Iran and the United States over control of the Strait of Hormuz have made the international waterway one of the world’s most insecure shipping routes.
