China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Ali Bagheri Kani, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in Beijing and called for regional crises to be resolved through dialogue and negotiations.

Al Jazeera reported on Monday, November 2, that Wang described dialogue and negotiations as the “only practical way forward” to resolve the region’s crises.

He warned that continued fighting in the Middle East could increase the risk of tensions spreading to other parts of the region.

Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq during his official visit to China.

The meetings come as the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran has heightened tensions across the Middle East and raised concerns about a wider regional conflict.
