A number of traders and residents of Spin Boldak, Kandahar, have complained about a ban on the entry of container trucks with right-hand drive into Afghanistan.
Traders told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Monday, August 10, that the decision has caused commercial activities in the area to slow down and left thousands of people unemployed.
Traders and residents of Spin Boldak have called on the Taliban to repeal or reconsider the decision.
A Spin Boldak trader, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to security concerns, said traders had traveled to Kabul to seek the repeal of the decision but were unable to meet Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Taliban’s prime minister.
He added that traders later conveyed their request to Taliban officials through Yusuf Wafa, the Taliban governor of Balkh, and Mullah Shirin Akhund, the Taliban governor of Kandahar. They also asked Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s leader, to reverse the decision, but have yet to receive a response.
According to residents and traders in Spin Boldak, the ban on the entry of container trucks has harmed commercial activities and put the district’s market at risk of a slowdown.
