The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has announced that a joint meeting on security in Central Asia and Afghanistan will be held in Moscow on October 15 and 16.
The organization said Wednesday, October 7, in a statement that the joint meeting of the CSTO, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held to expand security cooperation.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council is scheduled to be held in Moscow on November 10 and 11.
According to the statement, decisions to strengthen the CSTO’s collective security system are expected to be adopted and signed at the November meeting.
The CSTO is a Russia-led regional security alliance aimed at strengthening defense and security cooperation among its member states.
In recent years, the organization has also discussed issues related to security in Central Asia and the situation in Afghanistan at its meetings.
