A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook Kabul, the capital, and several other provinces of Afghanistan.
The earthquake was felt on the afternoon of Saturday, June 27, by residents of Kabul and a number of other cities across the northern and northeastern parts of the country.
Residents of Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province in northern Afghanistan, also reported feeling the tremors.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the epicenter of the earthquake was located 43 kilometers south of Jurm District in Badakhshan Province.
According to the USGS, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 208 kilometers.
So far, no precise information is available regarding possible casualties or damage caused by the earthquake.
