French sources say the government plans to deploy 70,000 police officers across the country for this year’s Halloween celebrations.
Fox News reported early Sunday, November 1, that French authorities are preparing for another wave of anti-government protests.
According to the report, demonstrations over rising living costs and the government’s budget deficit have escalated into riots, looting and damage to public property, causing more than $1 billion in losses.
French authorities are reportedly preparing for at least 150 planned gatherings across the country.
Concerns have also emerged that some protesters may use Halloween masks to conceal their identities.
In recent days, Paris, the French capital, and other cities across the country have witnessed widespread unrest.
