Antonio Guterres, the United Nations secretary-general, has called for efforts to prevent the spread of war and protect civilians amid escalating conflicts.
On Saturday, October 24, Guterres said that space must be created for dialogue, diplomacy, and peace to end conflicts and reduce human suffering.
He added that conflicts that divide communities must be brought to an end to prevent further human suffering.
The UN secretary-general stressed that addressing inequalities is also essential to preventing divisions between communities from widening and building peace.
Guterres made these remarks shortly after arriving in Egypt.
